Preparing for the car theory test can be nerve-wracking, especially if it’s your first time. The Tarbert Car Theory Test Centre is one of the most popular test centres in the UK, and if you’re taking your test there, you’ll want to be well-prepared. This guide will take you through everything you need to know about navigating the test centre on exam day, from the check-in process to receiving your test results.

What to Expect During the Check-In Process
When you arrive at the Tarbert Car Theory Test Centre, you’ll need to check in at the reception desk. You’ll need to bring your provisional driving licence or other acceptable forms of identification. Your ID should be in a good condition, and the name on it should match the name on your booking confirmation.
Once you’ve checked in, you’ll be asked to place your personal belongings, including your phone and any other electronic devices, in a locker. You will not be allowed to take any personal items with you into the testing room.
After you’ve stored your belongings, you’ll be asked to proceed to the testing room. The staff will guide you to the correct room and provide you with further instructions.

Navigating the Layout of the Testing Rooms
The Tarbert Car Theory Test Centre has a layout that is similar to other test centres across the UK. The testing room is equipped with individual testing stations that have a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
During the test, you’ll be presented with a series of multiple-choice questions and hazard perception videos. You’ll need to answer the multiple-choice questions by selecting the correct answer from the options provided. For the hazard perception videos, you’ll need to identify potential hazards on the road.
The test is timed, and you’ll need to complete it within the allocated time. You’ll be able to see the time remaining on the computer screen.

Understanding the Types of Questions on the Exam
The car theory test consists of two parts, the multiple-choice questions and the hazard perception test. The multiple-choice questions cover a range of topics, including traffic signs, road rules, and vehicle safety.
There are 50 multiple-choice questions, and you’ll need to get at least 43 correct to pass. The questions are randomly selected from a pool of over 1,000 questions, so it’s important to study all the topics thoroughly.
The hazard perception test consists of 14 videos, each lasting about a minute. You’ll need to identify potential hazards on the road, such as pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles.
