The theory test is a very important part of your training. It’s the first time you will have to use all that you have learnt so far, and it’s also one of the most stressful parts of your training. You may be wondering how you are going to pass this test. We can help with that. 

The theory test centres are usually located close to train stations. Doncaster Railway Station is about 0.5 miles away from the Doncaster Theory Test Centre, and there is free car parking nearby.

Two options are available for theory bookings; either by phone or online. You'll need your driving licence ready before you book as some details are required. CANCELLING AND RESCHEDULING THE THEORY TEST

You should be allowed to reschedule your theory test if you're unable to attend on the day scheduled. Three working days notice must be given before cancelling. A full refund will be given if you cancel within three working days.

AFTER YOU HAVE BOOKED YOUR TEST

You will get an email confirmation from DVSA once you complete the booking. This email will contain details about the test booking including the date, address, reference number and the time slot.

ATTENDING YOUR THEORY TEST

Make sure you leave enough time to get there. If you're running late, you might not be able to sit the test. If you've lost your original driving licence, take a plastic photo-provisionary driving licence instead. Get a new driving license from the DVLA.

Your car theory test is 86% correct. You must answer 43 out of 50 multiple-choice questions correctly to pass the test. You must also pass the hazard perception test by scoring 44 out of 75 to get your license.

Arriving at Doncaster Theory Test Centre

Public transport Parking is great for people who want to get to the test center quickly. You can arrive by train, bus or car. There are many buses going to the test center. The bus stops are close to each other. If you come from the opposite direction, you can use the same bus stops.

As is often the case the theory test centre doesn't provide its own parking spaces but there are plenty of cheap alternatives nearby. The NCP run Odeon car park is just a 2 minute walk away and charges £5 for 2 hours. It boasts 114 spots so you shouldn't struggle too much to nab a space. Alternatively, you could go for King Street car park which is also a 2 minute walk away. It's a slightly more expensive option as it costs £3 for 2 hours. There are only 20 spots available so get there early if your planning on using this option!

Pass Rates by Year

Doncaster's pass rate is lower than the national average. But, it's important to note that this isn't necessarily a reflection on the test center itself. The theory test remains the same everywhere. Pass rates simply reflect how people who took the test in that particular location did. Who knows, you may be able to help boost their numbers for next year!

Drivers should expect to be tested on the day of their theory test. There may be some traffic delays and roadworks. You must take your driving test within 6 months of passing your theory test.
