The theory test is a mandatory part of getting your licence. It’s not compulsory to take it at any particular location but you must pass before you can apply for a provisional licence. If you fail, you won’t be able to drive legally until you retake the test.
Car
The car is a complex machine that needs to be maintained and repaired. It has many moving parts and requires regular servicing. In addition, it must be driven regularly to keep it running smoothly. All this adds up to a lot of money. And if something goes wrong, you may not know what caused it.
Bus
The bus is a great way to travel around the city without having to worry about parking, traffic jams, or getting lost. It’s also a cheap way to get from A to B. But it has its downsides too. For example, if you miss your stop, you might end up stranded somewhere in the middle of nowhere. And if you don’t know where you’re going, you could end up spending hours trying to find your destination.
Find a driving test centre
The UK government has made it easier for people who want to take their driving test to find a test centre near them. Previously, if you wanted to sit a driving test, you would have had to travel to one of the centres around the country. Now, you can simply search online to see which local test centres are available.
Frequently asked questions about the theory test
The theory test is designed to give you a basic understanding of what you need to know before sitting your practical exam. It will cover topics like road signs, speed limits, traffic lights, roundabouts, junctions, parking, cycle lanes, pedestrian crossings, pavements, bus stops, zebra crossing, left turns, right turns, one way systems, dual carriageways, motorways and slip roads.
What is the theory test pass mark?
The theory test pass mark is 70% (or higher). This means that if you score less than 70%, you will not be allowed to take the practical part of the test. If you fail the theory test, it will affect your licence for two years.
Can I take my theory test online?
The majority of people who sit the theory test at a testing centre will find it easier if they take the test online. This is because most centres offer only one day per week for taking the test, so if you live too far away from a testing centre, this may not be an option for you. Online tests are usually available every day of the week, which means you don’t have to worry about missing out on a day.
What is the waiting time for a theory test?
The average wait for a theory test is around 2 weeks. This varies depending on where you live. If you want to know if your local test centre will take bookings for next week, check out our website here.
Can I change my theory test centre?
Yes, you can change your test centre by contacting us at any time.
